About 50 people from Columbia Borough officials to county officials and residents attended the opening of the Columbia and Reading Railway this afternoon at the South Fourth Street crossing near the VFW.
After a couple of speechs by the owners of the railroad, which will serve local businesses, the golden spike was pounded in the rail spur and the traditional bottle of champagne was broken over the front of the locomotive.
Following the opening, a gathering was held at A Taste of Styles in the 200 block of Locust Street.
