One burglar caught

As a result of the ongoing investigation into a series of burglaries and home invasion
robberies, Columbia Police charged and secured a Felony arrest warrant for Matthew
Fabral Dejesus, 18, of Columbia on Dec. 3.
These charges were based on evidence that was obtained from the scene of a burglary in the 600 Block of South Ninth Street in Columbia that was reported on Nov 27.
On Dec. 4, Columbia Police, assisted by members of the United States Marshals
Service, served the arrest warrant on multiple addresses in Columbia with negative
results. Based on information received during these attempts, Police were able to

struggle at approximately 5:36 pm.
During the arrest of Dejesus, multiple firearms connected to this investigation were recovered. A resident of the Wagon Werk's Apartments also admitted to Police that he recently purchased a firearm from Dejesus.
Additionally, numerous credit cards and other documentation connecting Dejesus to
recent burglaries were found in Dejesus's possession.
Dejesus was arraigned at Central Booking and incarcerated at Lancaster County
Prison.
This investigation is ongoing, and Columbia Police remind its residents to
continue to adhere to proper home security practices which include keeping all doors
