For the sixth year in a row, the Diocese of Harrisburg honored outstanding Catholic school teachers with the Golden Apple awards, a recognition of the teachers’ professional excellence, leadership, commitment to Catholic values and devotion to Catholic schools and their students. The 2011 Golden Apple awards program was held at the Cardinal Keeler Center in Harrisburg May 10, where recipients were honored during a special dinner.
This year’s recipients, pictured with Bishop Joseph McFadden and Father Edward Quinlan, Diocesan Secretary for Education, are, from left, Carol Kessler from St. Vincent De Paul School in Hanover; Michelle Detz from Our Lady of the Angels School in Columbia; Kelly Overstreet from St. Margaret Mary School in Harrisburg; Colleen Smalley from Our Mother of Perpetual Help School in Ephrata; Teresa Ann Laforest from St. Anne School in Lancaster; Jackie Muehleisen from Sacred Heart of Jesus School in Lancaster; and Julia Tutino from Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown.
