The Lancaster County Firemen's Association presented awards Friday, as part of its 91st convention and parade.
Valor Awards were presented to firefighters Jason Greer, Ryan Lehr and Timothy Wilk, of the Lancaster City Bureau of Fire. The three men rescued Zap & Co. owner Steve Murray during a January fire in downtown Lancaster.
Lt. Richard Garber and firefighters Dan Howard and Roger Howard Jr., of East Petersburg Fire Co., also received Valor Awards.
Distinguished Unit Citations were awarded to:
• The crew of Truck 6-7, who found and rescued two unresponsive residents from a second-floor bedroom during a July 2010 house fire in Rohrerstown. Both residents later died at a local hospital.
• The crews of Truck 6-7 and Engine 6-7-1, who assisted a firefighter in trouble during a Dec. 24, 2010, house fire in East Hempfield Township
• The crews of Truck 6-7 and Engine 6-7-1, who rescued two residents from a Dec. 31, 2010, house fire in East Hempfield Township
• The crews from Station 3-9, Truck 4-2, Ambulance 3-7 and Medic 9, who rescued an injured man from a New Holland sinkhole in July 2010
Life Memberships were given to: Leroy D. Berger, Jack F. Bowers, Walter E. Boyer, Glenn L. Eberly, Paul C. Eshleman, Leslie Fazekas, Daniel S. Fisher, Ronald Fritz, Norman E. Groff, Gary L. Landvater, Thomas L. Martin, Raymond W. Rudisill, Thomas G. Stephens Jr. and Robert L. Ulrich.
