Accident takes out fireworks stand

Around 7 o'clock, while emergency crews were fighting a fire in the area of Fifth and Union streets, they received a second call for an accident at 12th Street and Route 462. The gray vehicle was traveling west on 462, cross the road, struck the firworks' stand and came to rest in the parking lot of Scott's Automotive. There were inor injuries. The Blue Rock and Wrightsville fire departments handled the call, along with QRS 8 and SVEMS.

Bicyclist and car collide

An ambulance arrives on the scene at the entrance to the Columbia Plaza Shopping Center, where a bicyclist was struck by a car. Columbia Police said rhe bicyclist was an off duty officer from another department, who was taken to Lancaster General around 3:30 p.m.
