Columbia Masonic Lodge #286 hosted District Deputy Grand Master Larry Derr, a resident of Mount Joy, along with Worshipful Masters from local lodges Feb. 2.
Derr presented the agenda for the year of the Pennsylvania Grand Lodge, which includes a more openness attitude of lodges by having "open houses." Lodges are also being asked to devlop a Random Acts of Kindness program which would assist local community residents in times of need.

Masonic News
At a recent installation of Worshipful Master for Columbia Lodge # 286 the Zeamer legacy continues! Andrew M. Zeamer was installed for the 2012 year, to this office following his Uncle Scott J. Zeamer.
Andrew’s father, Mark C. Zeamer, administered both Scott's oath and Andrew's oath of office. Mark was Worshipful Master in 2009.
The ceremony was an open installation and many friends and family of Master Masons attended.

Andrew Zeamer to lead Masons
Andrew M. Zeamer, Columbia has been elected to serve as Worshipful Master of Columbia Lodge 286 for 2012
Zeamer, 29, resides in Columbia with his wife Amanda and 2 daughters, Mildree and Stella. He is employed at Dart Container, Lancaster as Fusion Department Manager. Zeamer is a member of the Old Columbia Public Grounds Committee and the Columbia Park Rangers
Also elected with Zeamer were Kenneth E. Brandt Senior Warden, Marlin E. Shughart Junior, Junior Warden, Scott S. Mahan Secretary, Gerald E. Winters Treasurer and Trustees Aubrey R. M. Aldons, Pete W. Null, Mark C. Zeamer, Demuth Rodkey and as Representative in Grand Lodge Scott J. Zeamer.
Zeamer appointed the following to their respective positions in the Lodge. Chaplain Glenn D. Bachert, Senior Deacon, Clair W. Knight Junior Deacon, Ricky Warner, Senior. Master of Ceremonies Andrew C. Gambler, Junior Master of Ceremonies Chad M. Zeamer, Pursuivant Steven J. Mango and Tyler Curtiss H. Pemberton Sr.
According to Zeamer he is looking forward as serving the Columbia Lodge this coming year and values the opportunity to continue the support the Lodge provides to the Columbia community. The Masons have supported the Shade Tree Commission, Columbia Historical Society and provides a scholarship to a senior at the local High School.

Masons to hold open house
Columbia Lodge 286 and Wrightsville Lodge 503 will hold a combined open house in Wrigthsville on the corner of Cool Creek Road and Route 462. The open house will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A free hot dog and soda will be offered to each attendee, and free tours of the lodge room will be given.
Members of the public may attend the open house for free, and Masons will be on-hand to answer most questions about Free Masonry.

Masons present award
Columbia Lodge #286 of the Masons, presented a $1,000 Scholarship each year to a graduating Senior from Columbia. This year's recipient is Christopher Detz a Senior Valedictorian from Columbia Jr.Sr. High School. Masosns elected officers
Scott Zeamer has recently been elected Worshipful Master of the Columbia Masonic Lodge # 286.
Zeamer resides in Lititz with his wife Susan. He has been associated with the Brethren Village for over 15 years and serves as Supervisor of Cottage Renovations.
Along with Zeamer, Andrew Zeamer was elected Senior Warden, Ken Brandt, Junior Warden, Gene Winters Treasurer, Allen Mahan Secretary, Aubrey Aldons, Pete Null, Mark Zeamer and Demuth Rodkey, Trustees
The following were appointed by Zeamer: Chaplain, Glenn Bachert, Senior Deacon, Marlin Shuggart, Junior Deacon, Clair W. Knight, Junior Master of Ceremonies Steve Mango, Senior Master of Ceremonies, John Heissler, Pursuivant, Chad Zeamer, Tyler, Andrew Gambler.
Worshipful Master Zeamer stated that Masons should be more involved in the community and will lead the Columbia Masons to continue to be active in Columbia Boro. Aside from assisting the Shade Tree Commission and supporting the Columbia Historical Society. A Scholarship award is given to a Columbia High male Senior in route to collage and holds a 3.75 gpa. The Masons will continue to sponsor The Riverside Chapter of DeMolay and the Rainbow Girls. Both youth programs associated with Free Masonry. A new program this year will be supporting the Masonic Blood Drive.

Columbia Masonic Lodge to recognize Columbia High School Graduate
Graduate Jimmy Lee with be receiving from the Columbia Lodge a scholarship in the amount of $1000 which will be presented to him June 24 at Fairview Park. This scholarship is made possible by the Craftsmen’s Club, an affiliate of the Columbia Masonic Lodge
The recipient of this scholarship must carry at least a 3.2 GPA, have no school violations and show a high level of respect for other students and teachers.
