Fourth Friday upcoming
Fourth Fridays in Columbia is offered each month and will be held on Friday, May 27, from 5 to 9 p.m. Attendees may experience Columbia's art galleries, antique shops, participating specialty shops, and local eateries during this at-your-own-pace tour. Participants may view exhibits from local and visiting artists and enjoy refreshments.

Washington Boro man charged
Manor Township Police have charged Kevin Ortman, 27, of Third Street, Washington Boro, with fleeing and attempting to elude police as the result of an incident on Blue Rock Road at Penn Street, Msy 17.
Police said Ortman was wanted on outstanding warrants.

Police seek help in copper thefts
Columbia Police are seeking help in solving a number of copper thefts from churches and homes in the borough.
Thefts are copper down and rain spouts.
Police said they have received reports of people checking out vacant homes, breaking into them to steal copper pipes from outside air conditioners.
If you see someone that does not belong in your area, call police at 684-7735 or 911.
There were also reports of a white truck seen in the area of the thefts.

Help is needed
Columbia High School is is actively looking for help at the concession stand for home football games for the upcoming season. Settlement is delayed again
Settlement between the borough, the Columbia Econonic Development Corporation and Musuem Partners has been delayed because of the bank financing the project, Susquehanna Bank, needed 10 days from the time they received all of the signed documents to review them.
Settlement may occur later this month, or borough council might have to have a special meeting to extend its agreement into the first few days of June.
The project is still a go, once the bank, agrees to everything.
Trailer Dog to sponsor breakfast
The breakfast will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the Columbia United Methodist Church, Fifth and Walnut streets.
The program begins at 7:45 a.m.
Brian Roche of WGAL will speak on electric choice and rate caps.
The meetingis free for SVCC members and $10 for non-members.

Chamber to hold River Run
Sponsored by Northwest Savings Bank, the Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce, will hold its annual River Run, Saturday, May 29.

Columbia's Memorial Day Parade/Observance is Sunday

The event begins at 1 p.m. May 23 with a ceremony at Locust Street Park at Locust and Sixth streets.
At 2:30, the parade will begin at the 10th and Manor streets end at Locust and Sixth streets.
This year marks the 65th anniversary of the end of World War II and the 60th anniversary of the start of the Korean War. It's also the 35th anniversary of the end of the war in Vietnam, plus the 20th anniversary of the start of the Persian Gulf War in 1990.
The parade will feature floats, honor guard, color guard and six divisions of marchers (each with a band).
The speaker will be Commander Gerard Gunari from Luzerne County, an Army veteran who served three tours of duty in Europe during the Cold War and who worked to defuse land mines during the Gulf War.
Civil War troops to be honored
