Deug Arrest

On Wednesday, July 3, detectives from the Lancaster County Drug Task Force
(DTF) and officers from the Columbia Borough Police Department arrested a Columbia
Borough man, Stanley Bennem, for two prior deliveries of cocaine.  The investigation began in
April of 2013, when a DTF detective utilized a police informant wired with an electronic audio
recording device, to purchase one-half ounce of cocaine from Bennem for $700.00.  The
transaction occurred in Lancaster City.  Shortly after that transaction, Bennem was arrested for
an unrelated incident in Columbia Borough, for which he was charged with Intimidation of a
Witness (F-3), Stalking (M-1) and Terroristic Threats (M-1).  Bennem posted collateral for
$20,000.00 bail on those charges, and the narcotics investigation continued.  In June of 2013,
the same police informant made a second wired purchase of one-half ounce of cocaine for
$700.00 from Bennem.  That transaction occurred in Lancaster Township. On the date of the
arrest, the aforementioned detective and officers conducted surveillance on a residence in the
300 block of Perry St. in Columbia Borough.  Bennem was observed arriving at the residence
in a vehicle and was arrested for the two prior felony deliveries of cocaine while he was still in
the vehicle.  Bennem was in possession of seven bags of cocaine at the time, and
approximately $1600.00 in cash.

In total, Bennem was charged with two counts of Delivery of Cocaine, two counts of Unlawful
Use of a Communication Facility and Possession with the Intent to Deliver-Cocaine.  All of
which are graded as felonies.  Bennem was committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of
$3,000,000.00 cash bail by Magisterial District Justice Bruce Roth.
