Mail boxes and cars damaged


On the morning of July 26, West Hempfield Police received numerous reports of mail boxes and cars being damaged in the 100 blk of Ruby St and 1st blk of Pearl St - Mountville.
In all, (6) mail boxes were smashed and (2) vehicles had smashed windows.

Three charged in road rage

 Police received a report of a Reckless Driver / Road Rage incident with a possibility of shots being fired, along Route 462 exiting Mountville Borough at 9:21 p.m., July 25.
Police located the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop it, but it fled. The vehicle eventually pulled into a private driveway on Gasper Lane with one of the suspects fleeing on foot. He was located  one mile from the stop and surrendered without incident.
The victim alleged; a road rage incident took place along Route 462 in Mountville. At some point, the victims vehicles was struck and damaged by a flying object from one of the suspects. After the incident was reported, Sgt. Coyle observed the vehicle along 462 and attempted to stop it, but the driver fled. Police were able to locate and arrest all involved once the vehicle pulled into a private driveway on Gasper Lane. Police located various possessions inside the vehicle to include a pistol, electronic equipment and controlled substances. Police further learned the vehicle was earlier reported stolen to East Hempfield Township Police.
All three suspects were charged and committed to Lancaster County Prison. Charges are as follows:
Edward Charles: RSP (F-3), Criminal Conspiracy (F-3), DUI (M), Fleeing & Eluding (F-3) and V.C.S.D.D.C.A. (M).
Kyle Hlubny: RSP (F-3), Criminal Conspiracy (F-3), V.C.S.D.D.C.A. (M), Underage Drinking (S).
Kurt Farmer: RSP (F-3), Criminal Conspiracy (F-3), V.C.S.D.D.C.A. (M), Underage Drinking (S) and Propulsion of Missiles into an occupied Vehicle or Highway (M-2).
West Hempfield Police were assisted by: Columbia Boro PD, Manor Twp PD and East Hempfield Twp PD.

Burglary/drug arrest


Kenneth R. Lightcap Jr., 23, of 255 N. Third St., Columbia, has been charged with stealing $1,300 worth of old coins overnight July 12 from Toll Booth Antiques Center, 215 Chestnut St.
He then used the coins at area businesses. Lightcap was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia for a smoking device found during a search of his home.
