Police arrest car vandal


On 12-22-12 at approx. 2215 hrs. Columbia Police were dispatched to the area of
Stump Ave. and Union St. for a vehicle break in that had just occurred. A witness
was able to get a description of the actor and provide that to police. Police were able
to locate the male, later identified as Michael Horn, 29 years old of Columbia, PA
not far from the original call. Horn had a large amount of property in his possession
at the time he was stopped. Ten (10) vehicles were found to have been entered or
attempted to be entered. Seven (7) of those vehicles had broken out windows, one (1)
had a soft top cover of the vehicle cut open, one (1) vehicle had a door pried open and
one (1) vehicle was unlocked at the time it was entered. The value of the items that
were taken is estimated at approx. $447.00. Damage to the vehicles is estimated at

approx. $1825.00. Horn was committed to Lancaster County Prison on a violation of
his probation and charged with eight (8) counts of Theft From a Motor Vehicle, eight (8)
counts of Criminal Mischief and one (1) count of Possessing Instruments of a Crime.

One killed after being struck by a train


On December 18, 2012 at approximately 4:51 pm the Columbia Borough Police
responded to the area of S Front Street in Columbia Borough for a report of a person
struck by a train. Officers located a male laying on the tracks behind the Columbia#
1 Fire Company between Union Street and Locust Street. The victim was a 26 year
old male from Ephrata, PA. He sustained life threatening injuries as a result of being
struck from a northbound Norfolk Southern train coming from Lancaster and heading
to the Harrisburg area. The male was transported to a local hospital where he was
later pronounced deceased. The man's identity is presently being withheld pending
notification of next of kin. Anyone that may have witnessed this event please contact

Drug bust nets one



On 12 December 2012, Detectives with the Lancaster County Drug Task Force, along with
Patrol Officers from the Columbia Borough Police Department, executed a search warrant
at 314 Cherry St., in Columbia Borough. The search warrant was the culmination of a one-
month investigation. During the search of the residence, twenty pounds of marijuana, mostly
packaged in small, cubic bails was located. Also located and seized was paraphernalia related
to the sale of controlled substances, such as scales and baggies. The estimated street value
of the marijuana is $25,000.00. Also seized from the residence were cash and other items
believed to be assets from illegal drug sales. As a result, the target of the investigation, Dane
Anthony McQueeney, 27 years of age, was arrested and charged with the following offenses:

Possession with Intent to Deliver (PWID) – Marijuana (felony); and
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

McQueeney was arraigned by MDJ Joshua Keller and committed to Lancaster County Prison
on default of $250,000.00 cash bail.
