More on the new market rumor

While at the successful Cruisin' Columbia Car Show, COLUMBIA TALK got to speak to people about the rumor of a new market opening at the former Sprint building at Third and Walnut streets.
Yes, David Doolittle and another investor, Marco Sardi, who is involved in selling some of Doolittle's properties, have expressed interest i n opening a market in the former office building. A borough official said those plans may have been toned down a little, but one can neveer be sure when Doolittle is involved.
Others said the rumor has been making the rounds for weeks and there might be code issues and licensing issues at the Sprint building.
On another note, there was also an open house held at the future site of the Timeless Inn at Fourth and Loucst streets, showcasing the apartments that are for rent on a shot term basis. There are still plans for a hotel at the site, which does have parking.
Here's another site that will be available at the end of the month across the street when the M&T Bank shuts its doors at the end of the month, which will be vacant.

I believe the building would not suit as yet another market idea or flea market, but perhaps a multi-use building. Gym with window front machines, top/roof a place to dine, law office, small cafe with outside seating or retail. People need another reason to visit Columbia besides flea markets. We have too many.!!! The downtown district needs attractions to make an impact on any visitor. As for hometown folks as myself, I personally would like to see Columbia stay strong and build a reputation of the oldest, but best of homestlye living! I feel Columbia needs to be revamped by people who live and invest their time in Columbia. Besides, who knows your neighborhood better than you?

Taken from an earlier post:

Here is what I have heard on this topic:
1. A Doolittle property
2. Renae Sears at the wheel
3. Mark Vera, Taco Stand Owner to start it all off
4. Attempts to persuade current Market House stand holders to make the move including Keagey's produce stand and the Amish stand holders.

ALL of the above statements are true, contrary to Renae Sears' continued lies that she is not intending to open a market and that the stand holders "approached her". What BS - my guess is that council did the right thing in running her out of the market, as it was always ALL about RENAE SEARS, not about Columbia, just so she kept her job!!! Renae continues to show her true self and is not to be trusted!

So, if Mr. Doolittle wants Columbia Boro to work with him, why do this.
And if Mrs. Sears, who is a member of borough council is anyway involved in this, which she is apparently denying, she needs to RESIGN mimmediately from borough council, bevause this is not in the best interest of the boro. Renae, there was a reason you were "fired," a reason the school board was "happy" to see you leave and we have found a "reason" why you are not needed or wanted on council.

RENAE, RENAE, RENAE..... FINALLY people are starting to see you for who you really are. I have to say I am surprised, I thought people would protect you to the end, just could never figure out why. Well, maybe this is the end...
