Chestnut Street Turkey Hill robbed at gun point

Scott Steven Hooten, 41, of Columbia was arrested following a brief foot pursuit this morning in connection with an armed robbery of the Turkey Hill store, 342 Chestnut St., around 3:30 a.m.


Hooten, who was arraigned before District Justice Robert Herman, on charges of robbery and resisting arrest, was also hospitalized for a brief time at Lancaster General Hospital, for breathing problems, after his capture.

Police Officers Matt Leddy and Brent Keyser said Hooten entered the store wearing a white t-shirt and blue jean shorts and displayed a firearm. An employee of the store turned over an undisclosed amount of cash and Hooten fled the store on foot.

Off. Keyser found the suspect walking East in the 400 block of Avenue H, two blocks from tne robbery. Police said Hooten disobeyed several verbal commands to stop walking, but fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, he was caught.

GREAT JOB OFFICER LEDDY AND OFFICER KEYSER. THEY NEVER GET AWAY FROM THE COLUMBIA POLICE. JUST REMEMBER TO BE SAFE ALWAYS.

thank you to all of our officers who confront the unknown 24/7 and who are trying to make a difference in this town. they can only do so much with their hands tied by none other than the mayor who absolutely, positively screws up police matters ALL the time because he's NOSY !!!

maybe it's time. time to stand with our police officers and encourage them to walk the downtown area, to talk to residents and tourists. make a presence to all. let's take this town back ! thank you to all our Police Officers, I appreciate ALL you do and all you try to do. stay safe and know we care.

do you think it would be of any benefit to try to be more approachable to some of these youngsters who don't have a lot of guidance or much of a family life - it's a real shame, the younger kids aren't to blame for lack of parenting. just maybe a friendly face would help! a lot of children would do anything for some attention. just an idea. i'm sure there are others. thank you to all of our police officers
