so what, at least they're dropping the trash in the trash cans! - there should be more public trash cans and stiffer fines for people that drop trash all over the alleys. The increase in fines will more then cover the extra cost of dumping the cans. Any Borough official should have the authority to write a $20. fine on the spot when someone litters. Look at the alley next to Stovers! - walk the back alleys!!!! - it looks like a third world country lately!!!!!
I'd rather see the trash going into the trashcans than into the alleys/gutters or strewn all over the streets (like it is now). The Boro goes thru and empties the cans once a week anyway--they might as well be full. Paying someone to empty the cans costs the same whether they are full or just have a couple pieces of trash in them. Might as well get our money's worth and have them full (and the trash inside instead of all over the streets).
I have seen a little of everything in the cans and I pick up trash from the sidewalks whenever it isn't too gross to do so. I am more concerned about the dog droppings I see on our sidewalks and where the trees used to be. There are folks in our town, (hello North 4th Street business man) that think it is okay to let their dog do it's business in the ally and leave it there. Jerk.
i agree. i'd rather have people putting their trash IN the cans instead of ALL OVER the streets and alleys. maybe in the warmer months they should be emptied more often. and talking of dog waste, you see it all the time all over town. what don't dog owners understand???? take a bag and pick up and remove ALL dog waste. should be able to give violators an INSTANT CITATION FOR THIS!
Since the "islanders" have already filled up the River Park cans, maybe they had to start moving uptown further until these cans are full too. And I am amazed at the comments approving putting personal trash in borough cans! If the idiots that posted these comments truly believe this, then I'll start filling the cans as well and save myself over $200 per year as are other LAW ABIDING citizens of Columbia. And if they approve of this, I'll be glad to start adding my trash to your pile if you'd be willing to provide your addresses!
good point, we all could save a couple hundred dollars by dumping all our trash in the receptacles all around town. the islanders SHOULD TAKE THE MAJORITY OF THEIR TRASH home WITH them, bums
I know a lot of people out on those islands who take care of THEIR OWN trash and are responsible enough to dispose of it at their own houses. so not EVERYONE out there is a bum !
