Crimson Tide notebook

J.V team completes sweep
Columbia won the junior varsity game this morning by a 26-0 score. Bryan Flory scored three times. Andrew Combs scored once and added a two-point conversion.

Offensive number crunching
Columbia had 460 yards in total offense last night. The Tide rushed the ball 41 times for 320 yards with Brock Taylor leading the way with 107 yards on just five carries. Taylor also scored twice.  Junior quarterback Tyler Harrison, making his first start, rushed for 92 yards. His final number would have been higher, but he was sacked once and lost a fumble out of the shotgun for 11 yards. Passing wise, he was 11-19 for 158 yards and three scores -- two to Michael Burke IV and one to Seth Lfever.
Burke and Lefever both caught four passes each, while sophomore Nick Nobile had two big catches.In all, eight players touched the ball for the Tide.

Defensive number crunching
The Tide was victimized for 228 yards on the ground by the Golden Knights. Of those 228 yards, 146 of them came on two plaus. Quarterback Mark Holloway ran a keeper up the gut for 63 yards early in the game. Later, Mitch Leratonda sprinted 73 yards for a score. Holloway wa sacked a couple of times, operating out of the shotgun. Kevim Simms and Marcus Fischer had the sacks.

Odds and ends
There were no turnovers in the game.Columbi a recorded two safeties in the game late in the fourth quarter. One when Holloway was called for intentional grounding when pressured in the end zone by Dominic Trout and threw the ball straigh up in the air. The other game when a snap on an Eastern punt sailed out of the ened zone.  The Tide just missed a thtird safety late in the first half when the Knights downed the ball after a Tide score inside the one.
Here's another standout for the Tide. Senior Johnny Vazquez returns six kickoffs for 136 yards.

Injuriy update
Junior Dion Matthews is out three more weeks with a separates shoulder. During the game, Trout, Lefever and DJ Wells all missed time with cramping issues.

Points
The 43 points was the most scored by a Tide team since Oct. 24, 2008 when the Tide put up 62 in a 52-20 win over Pequea Valley. The win also stopped an 11-game losing streak for the Tide, who had not won since beating Donegal, Oct. 31, 2008.
