The Columbia GOP is going to have a difficult time in getting people to run because of who is still in charge. Its time for a complete makeover and Mr Lutz should step down.

If you are sincere about change and so concerned about Mr Lutz why don't you "run" for that office. Rehortic without positive action and ability to provide leasdership is worthless, look at our current President. Don't continue to complain, contribute.

From what I understand, Columbia is supposed to be a Democratic Community but the School Board and Borough Council are mostly Republican so Mr. Lutz must be doing OK.

Look at the make up of Council. Mary Wickenheiser was a longterm Democratic voter. Now a republican. They had to talk her into running on the Republican ticket just to fill it. The make up in this town is 2400 to 2300 democratic voters over the republican voters. With a 15/19% turnout in the elections who in the hell are you kidding. Look back in recent history. The republican party had a hard time getting people to run for office. And to take it a step further those who did run on the republican ticket did not associate themselves with the Lutz family. Vern Detz, Mary Barninger, and Bob Buzzendore to name a few. Look at the committee openings for the republican party. The same goes for the Democrats. Both parties are in turmoil. That's because of the lack of leadership and nobody wants to step in and clean up the mess. No Rehortic here just the facts.....

Sounds as if JN has a "wonker" on for someone, perhaps the "Lutz" family. Just what is your point? Mr. Lutz, in the majority of those judging, is doing a good job, could that be why he was elected mayor for more than one term. To qutoe you, "nobody wants to step in and clean up the mess." Do you have the qualifactions to do so or is this more of your biased opinion regarding borough council?

Its never about the Lutz family. Its about why the party is faltering beyond repair. You must be new to local politics. Attend the meetings and you will find the same few. Where is the new blood? Its not about Council or even the position of the Mayor. Back in the 1980's and 1990's you had to be put on a list to be even considered to run. Today they beg people to come forward. Magee, you must be a close friend of Jonathons to be supporting him like this. The truth in the matter is that the party has been under his leadership at best poorly ran. I highly recommend you do a little research on party history and you will find I'm right. I am a big supporter of Leo but I have to question his sons ability to run the party. I hope before you respond you take my advice and do some research. I also must question the qualifactions part? Its takes common sense to sit on a Council or the Mayors seat. I happen to think Mary Wickenheiser is doing a great job in running this Borough. So, I'm not sure where you are coming from? I attend evey meeting do you?

response to Jn, Yes, new to local politics, tis true here and elsewhere there are fewer qualified candidates and as you say, "today they beg people to come forward." Not a close friend to J. Lutz don't know him, neither does my husband. I have done some research with a few "oldtimers" in the community. They tell me that both Demos and GOP leadership is bad, Demos worse than GOP, believe sisters lead Demos and are near worthless according to sources. You state it takes common sense to sit on a council or the Mayors seat. While that may be true it takes many more qualifactions. You stated you happen to think Mary W. is doing a great job in running this Borough. Are you they same Jn that commented, "Secret agendas is what Mary Wickenheiser is ALL about. You people have no idea the secrets she keeps from the public, her, Leo and Norm. They all have something on each other as security so they can keep their own personal agendas in play. C'mon MORONS, WAKE UP!!!!!!! My point is that all of us need to support the community we live in by serving on committees, attending council meetings and if we have the professional experience run for a political office. Your views demonstrate those of a Demo, why don't you sign up for an open seat on the borough council? I don't attend the meetings to new to the area, glad that you do. Be more positive and give of your time to the worthy cause.

Welcome to Columbia politics Magee....I am not a democrat. Your taking shots at me without knowing the complete truth. I should clarify my position on the Mayor and Wickenheiser. They do a good job of keeping their seats where as they should have been thrown out years ago. We accumulated a mountain of debt of around 6 million dollars under their tenure. You are correct on one thing. Both parties are hurting. Its a Mother and Daughter who run the Democratic party. Because nobody wants to get involved anymore this is the reason why you have people like Wickenheiser's and Leo Lutz running this town. Do a little more research and broaden your search of opinions about Columbia to Lancaster County. We are a joke. Its because of who has been running this town for the last ten years. I will see you and your husband at the next council meeting.......
