i can not believe that norfolk southern and the west hempfield police (or whichever police are responsible for this iarea) allow these homeless people to continue to live along the river here.
what the hell are they thinking ???? where do you think they're going to the bathroom???? they drag furniture there like its a house....its ridiculous. its unsafe. and its definitely a health hazard to ALL who enjoy the susquehanna river......unbelieveable. time to take action.
run em off. and patrol the area nightly.

The only thing sadder then this article is comments like these that I hear often. These people are HOMELESS. There are worst things floating in the river than human feces. (where do you think fisher men go to the bathroom?) The homeless shelters in and around this area are over crowed and most shelters have a "one night stay" policy. If you wish to "run em off" how about we direct them towards your home so they can live peacefully. This should be a wake up call to people to become pro-active with the ever groaning homeless population.

All of these guys were living at the winter shelter in Columbia until it closed the other day. Just like any other group of people, some have mental health issues, some are harmless, and a few are the 'fall between the cracks' who should be in group homes or hospitalized to stop them from hurting themselves or others. But for the most part, they are EXACTLY like the rest of us, minus a paycheck or two. YES YOU!!!

Run em off to where?? They picked as secluded a spot as they could so that people don't bother them and they don't bother people. Try to show at least a little compassion...some of these men are the same people who refused free winter gloves because they were concerned that someone might need them more than they did.....would YOU do that....or are you one that would take a pair for every single member of your family?
