Columbia vs. Camp Hill: Lions have worn the gold

Friday's District 3 Class A championship on the chocolately turf at Hershey Park Stadium will be the fourth meeting between the Crimson Tide and Lions.
Camp Hill under the direction of first-year coach Frank Gay, who previously coached ar Red Lans, has won all three including twice in the District 3 finals in 1988 and 2001. The Lions also beat the Tide in the semifinals in 2002.
That 1988 Camp Hill team went onto win a state title.
Overall, the Lions have made 11 trips since 1985 to the District 3 finals, winning in 1986 (Hanover), 1987 (Holy Name), 1988 (Columbia), 1996 (Scotland), 2001 (Columbia), 2002 (York Catholic) and 2004 (Holy Name). They lost in the finals in 1985 (Hanover, who beat Columbia in the semifinals), 1997 (Scotland), 1998 (Scotland) and 2007 and 2008 (Steel-High).
Overall, the Lions are 20-9 in the playoffs and their appearance this year was the first since 2009.
They have the second most Class A titles (7) behind Steel-High and their eight and their 18 appearances in Class A is the most in that Class, with Columbia being second with 16.
