Sunday notebook

After a busy Saturday of people watching at the Bridge Bust, here are some thoughts.
The weather was perfect for the Bridge Bust and probably set a record for attendance. It took me about two and a half hours on the scooter to get over and back on the bridge. People were still paying to get on the bridge up until the time the Bridge Bust ended.

One of the things I noticed on Saturday was the presence of the fire police for the first time in about two years. Following the passing of their chief, John Murphy, earlier this year, they have reorganized. Steve Henry Sr. is the new chief and they will be working toward getting back to doing traffic control at events. They are expected to ratify their changes at their meeting this month and be re-certified by borough council at their next meeting.
The fire police quit doing anything  by emergency calls about two years ago over a funding issue with the borough.

Interviews for the vacant position on borough council are Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
